Daniel at the Airport
The day arrived. Daniel jumped off his bed pumping his arm high into the air. Today was the day he was going to Japan! He quickly got changed and brushed, then he started picking out the clothes he needed.
“Everyone, pack quickly! Our flight leaves in 4 hours,” called Mom, while she grabbed her sunglasses and hat.
Everyone ran around the house scrambling to pack the things they needed. After that
Daniel’s mom quickly checked everyone's bags to see if they had everything.
“Daniel and Emily, can you please help close the luggage?” asked Mom.
Daniel and Emily zipped the luggages, and then put a lock in and dialed the combination so that it would lock.
“I hope you will enjoy your trip. I wish I could go but I have to go to work,” said Dad wistfully.
Everyone waved goodbye to Dad, and then grabbed the luggage and left. Across the street, they saw the airport bus arriving. Hurriedly, they ran across the street to the bus stop.
“Wow, we just made it. If we left the house a second later, we would have had to wait even longer!” exclaimed Daniel, breathing heavily.
On the bus, Daniel, Emily, and Mom rested since they were tired from packing and rushing all morning.
They finally arrived at the airport. People rushed around them finding their check-in counters and sounds of chatter from travelers filled the terminal. Grabbing the handle and turning the luggage onto its side, Mom and Emily lugged each heavy suitcase onto the baggage cart, one by one. The largest and heaviest was Mom’s while Daniel and Emily shared a smaller bag. They went to get a small breakfast before the flight since it was pretty long. Daniel pushed the cart of luggage quickly, trailing behind Mom to the check-in area, where a long line had formed. Daniel groaned. He didn’t like waiting in lines. In the line, Daniel stared off into the distance, noticing a store selling electronic toys, while Emily and Mom chatted about what they would do when they arrived in Japan.
“Daniel!” Emily called out. “Come on, it's our turn!” Daniel quickly pushed the cart to the counter.
“Passports please,” requested the check-in officer politely with a smile. His mom scrambled all their bags, but couldn't find their passports.
“I can't find the passports!“ shouted Mom. They all panicked and had to exit the line.
“Wait, I have an idea, I can call Dad to bring the passports to us,“ said Mom.
“Daniel, go wait in the line to the check in counter while me and Emily will get the passports from dad,“ said Mom
While Daniel was waiting in line, he was panicking and felt very worried that they would miss their flight, but all Daniel could do was wait. After what felt like hours he saw Mom and Emily rushing to the line, holding their passports. Daniel felt so relieved, and they checked in, and went to their gates, once they could finally rest.
