Super’s Trip to the Forbidden Planet
Once there was a dog named Super, a really cute black Shiba Inu, who was extra naughty to begin with, and so as she grew up, she was full of mischief. Her owner was a funny but smart man called James. James was an aerospace engineer from London and he always liked to go shopping, especially in the Whole Foods Market. James also really liked to make food for other people.
Before James got Super and moved to the US, James almost decided that he wanted to be a chef in one of the really good restaurants in London. As for Super, she lived in a really old supermarket in the middle of a forest in Colorado. The supermarket was so old that the doors were broken, the shelves had spider webs, and some of the fridges were full of rats who had taken over all the food. After a few years in the dreaded supermarket, someone found Super and she was sent to the best shelter they could find.
James felt really lonely at that time, so he wanted to get a dog. When James saw Super, he wanted to adopt her - and so he did! After becoming a family, James always brought Super and her friends out to play every weekend for one to two hours, then they would go to a nearby pet shop and cafe called Whiskers N Paws to get dog ice cream. It was always peanut butter or fish flavored, and it was fine for humans to eat too, so sometimes James got his own ice cream.
One day, James brought Super to work, but she went everywhere around his office! She scratched the floor, looked in his bin, and tried to steal James's snack bar. So James had to leave work three hours early! When they got home, Super was so tired that she took a nap as soon as they arrived. James got to do some work while Super slept, missing her dinner, which she never does. “Tomorrow is going to be even worse,” said James in a worn-out voice while looking at the clock. “It's past nine, Super, look what you did to me,” yawned James.
Later that night, as James was sleeping, Super woke up and was so energetic that she zoomed around the house thirty times. She was not being careful enough so she bumped into the light wooden table, causing a crash. “Woof!” shouted Super, as it hurt a lot. A cup of cold green tea from the night before was on the table. Cling! The cup went down as well. Next, Super bumped into the front door, which had a bell on the doorknob. “Ding! Woof!” shouted Super. After all of that, she got hungry and woke up James before the sun had even come up.
James was so tired and lazy to take her outside for a walk, so he let her out to the backyard to release some energy, until he got up to make a cup of coffee. This time James only needed to go to work after lunch, because his company was testing a rocket.
Since Super was tired, he wanted to bring her to work again so he brought with them Lucky, one of Super’s best friends, to come on the work trip with them. Lucky was a retired racehorse from the Olympics so she could run super fast, almost as fast as a car. She had a bay-colored body and a dark brown main, and she can do showjumping, too.
They drove for two hours to the space station hotel, a five-star hotel by the Mandarin Oriental and NASA in Colorado. The first week was just to look around the hotel. At night, Super would get frustrated because the hotel didn't have dog beds to sleep on. She had no choice but to sleep on the dirty floors and Lucky had to sleep in the space station park because she was too big to fit into the doors of the hotel.
In the next few weeks, James and his colleagues worked on the final touches of the test rocket, like checking that the airlock doors and the space suits are in working order. Everyone was very excited, especially James. One night, James didn't close his bedroom door properly, so Super and Lucky snuck out of his room and went inside the rocket. While there, Lucky accidentally closed the airlock door with them inside, and they were stuck in the test rocket!
The next day, James and his team went looking for them, but they didn't realize the airlock door was closed and they never thought of looking in the rocket. They gave up, and the rocket took off for the test flight to outer space. However, it went off track and they ended up travelling to space! They reached a forbidden planet with only sandy grounds and only bits of wood and metal everywhere. There were no houses, trees, or any other plantation in sight, leaving them in big trouble. They were looking around the planet when suddenly, they found a broken time machine lying on the ground (which was useless), along with some food. “At least we have food!,” exclaimed Super. The problem was they didn't have anything for comfort, like dog beds and treats so it was hard and easy at the same time. But then when they found some duct tape lying around the rocket, Super had an amazing idea! They used the duct tape to tape the time machine back together, and it worked!
The problem was Super and Lucky were really bad at math and science, and they had paws and hooves instead of hands. Working out the machine was difficult without human hands but they eventually found a way to make it work. They tested it with the food, and it disappeared! They got in the time machine and traveled back to Earth. Suddenly, in the middle of flying back to Earth, the time machine stopped because they thought it had run out of battery or gas. But then they found out that it had a water-motivated engine. Then Lucky had an idea: they could use their saliva to power up the engine! With their wet tongues, they licked the water-motivated engine until it had recharged, and then they could continue on their journey back to Earth.
It took five hours to get back to Earth, but they landed in a park in London instead of the space station in Colorado. They found out that the work trip had already ended weeks ago, and James was having a nice vacation in London at that time. They thought were lucky he was there. “It will take a long time to find each other,” neighed Lucky.
Super and Lucky were gone for so long that James thought they were lost forever. Suddenly, the news reported that two animals were found in a park, a dog and a horse, with a broken time machine found beside them. All of London got busy with the time machine and no one thought Super and Lucky were real animals. Because of this, nobody spent time looking for them… except James.
James was very happy. He knew they were not dead and lost forever. After a few weeks, they found each other, and Super and Lucky learned very important lessons which they never forgot: do not wander around alone, stay close to James, and don't use too much energy at once.
After a few years, James and Super got a new puppy named Mochi, a white Pomeranian who looked like a mochi ball. After Mochi got trained, they went on fun trips together. When Mochi turned three in human years (twenty-one in dog years), they also got a flying squirrel and named her Snow because she looked a bit like snow— a little bit gray and a little bit white as she was a Japanese Dwarf flying squirrel.
For the rest of her life, Super was happy to have all her best friends with her and that they always had fun together. James was happy, too, because he always had his pets beside him: Super, Lucky, and Mochi.
